I looked around a bit and didn't find what I'm looking for.
Obviously a new guy here. I'm thinking about picking up a 1008 and/or a 1009 at auction.
From what I can tell I need to register on the GL web site and place a bid on the vehicle I'm interested in. After that I need to fill out the paperwork for the EULA and wait for it to come through (which could be anywhere from 7 to 45 days). When the EULA comes through I can drive to the yard and pick up my vehicle. The yard gives me the papework including the paperwork I need to register it with the VA DMV.
It looks like from reading other threads that most folks drive them off the lot if they can. How do you handle the registration to get them road legal? Can that be done before you pick up the vehicle?
I'm kind of leaning towards a 1009 for my first purchase because I can get a trailer that will haul it.
Anything I' missing here?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
And I've already read that MV's are addictive. My 16 year old son wants to buy a Duece after seeing some sell for under $1,000 on the GL auction site. But I think that will have to wait a while.
