what is an axel strap, what does it look like, and why would i need one.

what its on, some trailers that have air bags have them incase the bags blows

The axle strap is a tow bar accessory. When you have a deuce or 5ton hanging from the hook, you put the tow bar on the axle straps so the bar stays essentially parallel to the ground. Having the bar at an angle is not a good idea.
