It kind follows the ole rule... "its better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it..." I would fix it and carry on....

And if there's any way to...... "aggravate" the local Barneys, I'd do it just for the fun of it.... lol

just my 2cents.....

As regards the blackout light lenses on the Unimog, they are about 3/4" dia each and about less then 3/4" apart under the hood. I doubt that anyone would take them for police lights, and I do believe that a challenge would be successful in court, as in many states theVFD's use blue lights, not the cops. Besides, the single light bulb in the unit illuminates both the slot and the cat's eyes at the same time, much like our blackout lights but with the cat's eyes combined in the same unit.
Also, they would have to be within 40 to 60 feet to see it, as the hood over the slot covers most of the blackout light unit. What is odd, is that there are no turn signals or any other items attached to the blackout circuit, whereas the German S404.114's have very complex lighting arrays.:D I may scounge around for one of the blu or green leses for the old GI flashlight, as they would probably take the weather exposure better then theatre gels. A meritorious suggestion and much appreciated.
