I'm a fairly new owner of the 5 ton. I used to have a 1967 m35a2. I live in miami florida so I jumped the gun and bought the HMMWV Red Dot ac system. Going to be installing it in the next few weeks considering I work way to **** much in a quarry. I'll try to post as many pictures as I can and help out to any extent that I can. My main concern is the ac compressor bracket which I have heard horror stories about and most likely just gonna fab one up. 20160403_065243.jpg20160403_073820.jpg

Update on m818 ac install. Compressor bracket.

Decided to go the route of making my own compressor bracket. Re used some of the parts from the HMMWV install kit and a few pieces of steel here and there. I wanted maximum belt contact to avoid slippage. So far everything looks great and servicing the compressor or swapping it out in this location is ideal.

Good luck with the rest of your install. Flipping that switch and having cold air coming out of the vents under the dash was definitely a memorable moment for me with my bobber. Still is each time I get in it!

The compressor bracket is up and just as I pictured it would be. I decided to run a single belt to it just in case something happens to like locking up I can isolate it. Keeping spare belts handy for every part. 20160404_183954.jpg

I litteraly used the bracket that came with the HMMWV kit. Cutoff one piece then got some steel flat bar and welded it to the piece that goes in between the compressor tabs. cut a slot for adjustement and voila.

Let me tell you what, for a few days of work this was totally worth it. Flipping that swith and feeling the cab get ice cold was an extreme amount of satisfaction. Runs great. All I have left is to route the wiring, ducts and Clean up and zip tie everything. Went way smoother than expected.

any clearance issues with the hood? looks like it would be really close.

Also, how has that radiator support bracket held up?

belt number for the one for the compressor to steering pump?
