Break lights arent working.

I replaced my hydroboost and now my break lights dont work.

Welcome to the Deuce Electrical Gremlin Club! I always have headlights, but chance turn signals and brake lights. I took my three-way switch out last night and tested it per the write up here on the board. I think it's OK. Now I have to chase grounds and Lord knows what else. I hate messing with electrical stuff

Its too late for me to find it here but, it is here. There are multiple reasons you might have this problem. do a search here on the subject and it will take you to many preveous ones. off the top of my head Iwould take the sender off the airpack and ground it with the light switch in the correct position and see if if they came on. After you do that you will be able to narrow it down to the switch side or the wiring side of the problem.

when mine stopped working it was the brake fluid actuated switch located at the front of the boost pack. 2 leads going into it.
its the silver thing at the right of the cylinder with the rubber grommet and leads. threads in. Some deuce's have a different setup however
$15 = cheap trial and error. if it doesn't fix your problem then at least you have a spare. The other problem could be, and its only related if you have this style switch, is low brake fluid. I had some wonky things happening when my system needed a bleeding and it was pushing air into the switch instead of fluid. It would only turn the lights on if I pressed the brake pedal ALL the way to the floor

I had to replace it the one onit when i bought it leaked every where. So my brother in law got me a brand new one and tons of other great parts from the armory hes from. They were throwing all of it out because they were getting the new style trucks. The original one looked like the one in charlietangs thumb. The one now i believe is a little different.

DO NOT EVER USE THE CIVVY HYDRAULIC SWITCH!!!!! I bothered the Tech Support from Echlin (got it from Napa) for days until they confirmed not DOT 5 compatible or is pressure rated! Switch over to air!!!! Also if you get a NOS air switch, put a little air tool oil in the diaphram to free it up! God knows how old NOS is! Bleed the master, bleed the airpack!

The easiest way to determine the cause of no brake lights is to have power on and the 3 lever switch in the correct position, disconnect the wires from the pressure switch (either air or hydraulic) and jumper those two wires together. if the lights don't come on the problem is elsewhere. don't overlook the obvious such as bad bulbs.

I agree with the sentiment of using the air switch, its an easy conversion, it dramatically increases the reliability of the braking system, and best of all, it's a good reason to go wrench on the truck for a while!

My lights wern't working and dan (an/arc186) let me know it is most likley the brake switch. upgraded to a air switch from saturn surplus and walla BRAKE LIGHTS!

1) Is power on? 3 pos switch.
2) check power to sensor... circuit breaker N/S or wire broken or disconnected? ....
3) check sensor operation.

I discovered my brake lights didn't work on my Deuce sometime after I got it. It had already been converted to the air switch vs the hydraulic switch, but the air switch wasn't working anymore. I couldn't find anyone who sold only the switch (everyone had the whole kit) so I ended up buying a commercial SL-4 brake light switch and a reducing adapter. Works great, and cost less than $10.
