Yesterday, me and a friend were riding around the Killeen area looking for a old trailer. We actually found one, but that's another story. While riding around, we ended up on the south side of the Fort Hood reservation. The area is not fenced or posted. The area looks to be used like BLM land. It was covered in off road trails and I actually witnessed some folks out 4x4'ing...

Well...

Today I found myself done with everything about lunch and decided to ride up there since its only 40 miles from the house.
I climbed my first "mountain" with my CUCV and it did great! I took a couple of pics from the top...

When I got ready to come down, I remembered I downloaded a video camera app and thought I would try it out...

This is after I get off the hill my freaking phone mount broke. (its a tad shaky, but not too bad)

Both of these took place south of the road that cuts through the land. Trails I took are highlighted. - Photo 3

Then I jumped across the road on yet more trails. I found a very steep path up the side of a mesa and I went for it.
I forgot to film going up as I was focused on driving, but got it coming down.

I went north and viewed a yet steeper road going up the north side of the mesa, so I went for it. This was fun...

After the video ends, and remove my tattered CB antenna, I cleared some branches in a attempt to move forward. I only got about another 30yrd before it closed in again. I walked about 1/8 mile and there was no way I was getting through that. On the way back to the truck I took this: - All hiding from the black helicopters...Photo 4

This is the return trip down.

Had a blast... The truck ran great and I will be returning soon...

Nice place to do some wheeling and the phone took some nice video!

In Part 5 it looked like you were making your own trail. Gotta love the CARC paint in those situations.

The backwoods of Ft Hood used to be a treasure trove. The units would dump stuff out there that they were not supposed to have. Lots of pickin' goes on out there . . .

The areas you were in are actual training areas. In one of your maps you were near the airfield and the bunker area. I'd stay farther south. You being in a 1009 probably wouldn't arouse much attention. There are places you can go on post in the training areas when there is no training.

Also the "Gateville Gang" travels onto Ft Hood to steal equipment, usually at night, so don't go on a salavage hunt on post and get caught. Bad juju.

Are there other areas with trails that are accessible to the public without any problems?
