Bumper reinforcing brackets

Hi guys....
I know I posted this along with the decal question, but I thought it'd be worth another shot.
Does anyone know where I would be able to source the bumper reinforcing brackets for the M1009, they're all I need to finish my CUCV after the 8 month restoration.
Like I said before, parts ain't easy to come by in the UK, specially something as specialist as these, I've emailed a couple of the military vehicle parts dealers in the US but got no reply, so I'm now bordering on desperation.
And still no luck with the decal.
I hope there's some like minded CUCV owner out there who can help.

Mick.

I wish i still had the two parts blazers, I'd be glad to give ya the parts. You may try boyce equipment in Utah, they should have some for you. If one of us in the stats needs to order it and then ship them to you, I'm sure we can help out.

I'm not gonna give up on this as I really need them.
I appreciate all the ideas and help from everyone.

Mick,
I will check. I probably have one but getting to it and getting it off is the problem. If I can come up with one I will let you know.

Hi Chuck..
Excellent, I'd really appreciate it, I know they're a SOB to get to, I had to figure out how they all went together when I put the bumper back on, then took it off and put them on the right way round, then took it off and put the bolts in the right way round lol.
Even one would be a start, just to get the reinforcing bar back on.

Just a thought but are you a member on www.ColoradoK5.com ?

Every now and then someone shows up selling off a CUCV on there as they usually only want the body or driveline parts.

At any rate it's another site with lots of people who own similar trucks thereby increasing your likelihood of finding a set of these.

Hi AJMBLAZER .....
I wasn't a member of that site, but I am now lol, ANYTHING is worth a try, even bugging the good ppl on Ebay as there seem to be a whole load of rear bumper centers and tow hitches appearing.

Mick,

I emailed Rick Thiers in Pennsylvania about your brackets. I gave him your email address. He said he has some lying around and will email you. If you don't hear from him, contact him at: rick@mvsalesandhardware.com

Good luck,

Hi Mike...
Excellent, thank you very much for taking the time to do that, I'll wait for the email from Rick and let you know if we're successful.

One day it might even look like this rollin' down the road. Just finished helping my buddy restore his M416, so I "borrowed" it and stuck it on the back of the Chevy, you know, just to see how it sits etc etc :D

Another stupid question but where is that?

I see a late 90's 2wd GM pickup in the background. Your friends who love American stuff?

That was taken today at the yard where my friend has his workshop, just outside London, I've put some pictures in the photo gallery, titled ' What you find in barns in the UK'.
He's been into American auto's close to 30 years, both civilian and military, I'm learning about them slowly lol.
I'm not totally sure about some of the vehicles, he's joined this site now, if you've any questions you can ask him, Tim0007

Mick,
If the other sources do not work out PM me and I will try to get one off my parts truck. I have to cut the tree up that fell on it so I can get the tractor back there to pick up the rear end to get to the bracket.

Hi Chuck...
Thank you very much for taking the time, I know they're a pain to get to and remove, like I said I took the rear apart no problems, taking apart is the easy bit, it was the putting back together in the right order and the right way round.
Regards.

Well, I finally managed to get the brackets, found a CUCV at a breakers yard, also got a ton of other hard to find bits from it, complete jack bracket and jack handle bracket, 3 steel wheels, tailgate and side glass, ariel mounts, 2 dash decon unit brackets.
I've posted some picccies in the photo gallery, titled 'End of an era', as the owner of the yard died recently and everything is being cleared, mainly crushed and sold as scrap.

Oh yes, well pleased with them, amazing what a few hours of hand sanding, primer and satin black can achieve, they're on the Blazer now, just gotta get some bolts for the reinforcing bar and the back ends finished. Just poly leaf spring bushes and sway bar bushes to go now. Almost ALMOST finished inside, fitted the dash decon unit bracket today, that was sanded, primed and painted as well.
Off to the big show next saturday, so only got 6 days to get all my kit checked and packed.
