Bypassing fuel density compensator

I've seen the diagrams showing how to do this, but is there really an advantage to it? Some on this board have said there is a power increase. Some say you gain nothing at all. Which is it?

Also, the instructions in the article someone posted on how to do this said that you need to readjust your fuel delivery. I thought you just bypassed the FDC, and that was it???

By only bypassing this, will it raise the EGT too much?

From what I have read, mainly from Bjorn (Cranetruck), Bypassing the FDC will give you the equivalent of turning up the fuel 1 turn. The military was doing this (supposedly) because if the FDC leaks, it can put fuel in the oil pan. I have also been told that this was to eliminate having to rebuild FDC's.
I have also read that it does not raise EGT's enough to hurt the engine.

My first pump was bypassed.. then i cooked it ( my fault) my new one i converted to run as designed. i saw no power increase and performance stayed the same.
