Can I drill the muffler out

I was looking at my m35a3 today and was thinking could I take a hole saw and drill the top and bottom out and just basicly have a straight thought muffler Any opinoins would be helpful Oh and by the way it would still look stock

I just wanted to keep it looking original How about if i was to weld a pipe inside of the muffler that way it would look stock but still have a straight pipe Will it work? also what about the hose on the side does that have to be open or can I plug it ??? Sorry for the stupid questions but I am new to these trucks and appreciate your input
