On top of each other with either one on bottom? I have a small cube cargo style trailer and dont think both will fit sitting on the floor. Thinking about laying some 2x6's across the bottom gennie, and then forklifting the top one over the other.

Really bad idea?

What are you pulling with? Can you put one in the bed of the tow vehicle and one in the trailer?

The 016D will have an Aluminum cage type frame, but I wouldn't put an 002 on top of it.
Also, the 016D weighs about 450-500lbs, IIRC. It is only about 24"W X 40"L.

The 002A weighs 960lbs dry. It is about 51"L X 32"W. I do not think the top is square enough or strong enough to support much weight.

What size is your trailer?

I"ve hauled two 701As in my PreRunner, and one 003A and little PowRGard together.

When are you going? I'm going to try and go Tuesday morning. I assume you are going to Camp Shelby.

Just how small is this trailer? Having said that I don't think stacking would be a smart idea, too much stuff on the top of the MEP-002 is easy to crush and I really don't see the MEP-016 frame supporting the nearly thousand pound weight of the MEP-002.

Ike

p.s. Derf I think the MEP-016d will be lighter than that, my 701a with the ASK weighs just over 500 pounds dry, and the Yanmar is lighter than the Onan in mine, I would bet the weight would be in the 350-400 range dry.

You are going next tuesday morning, the 16th? I was planning on wednesday, but havent given meleta a date yet.
I can do the 16th as well. Planning on going at 0900, as soon as my daughter is awake and fed. Have to tote my 18MO daughter with me.

I do not have a firm date, yet. I want to go Tuesday the 16th and get there around 9-10.

I will try for Tuesday. I am on call, though, and subject to emergency call out.

Meleta said they were booked up on Tuesday. I had to settle for Thursday.

How did your 016D turn out to be?
I'm happy with mine. It has less than 200hrs on the meter, full of fuel and oil.
So far, so good. I may try and start it tomorrow.

I bumped mine to wednesday. Went well, in and out in 10 minutes. Camp Shelby is busy for never hearing of it!

My 016D is a CHERRY! 2.3 hrs, looks like it was built last week. Came with a full tank of diesel, and started on the first pull.

MY 002a is ugly but is complete. I think it will run next week or so. a linkage on the side of the IP is broken, and I need a fresh set of batteries, fuel filters etc and should be good.
I need to get the TM's... More importantly I need the parts manual for the 002a.
I contracted HFMD aua (Hand foot mouth disease. sounds made up, I know!) from my daughter and have been sidelined pretty bad, but hope to be up and running soon.

In that case I'm glad I missed you.

I hope to have time to tinker with my gens tomorrow.

Will do. Are you, by chance, available to eyeball some DRMO stuff for us? It would be nice to have some eyes on location.
Either way, next time I recover something there maybe I can buy you dinner?

Pickups at Shelby are always a breeze. Meleta can be cranky but the Sgt. on base is good.
Go in the South entrance and you're very near the DRMO area.

Eglin is not a breeze if you don't have a military ID. You have to have an appointment and get a pass at the gate. You have to be pre approved
Camp Shelby and Ft. Polk are much easier than Eglin AFB.

Yeah that would be chief Seewright and his bunch of great guys and yes if you want I can preview stuff, and yeah I think I know a little about all the five tons coming out of there I have probably touched almost 1500 or more have lost count of how many I have moved out of there.

While were talking about regional GL sites, Hooks in TX is a pain, you have to go in through the commercial truck entrance, when I have been there the wait to get in the gate can be an hour or more, and you have to jocky for position between all the big trucks. They also inspect all vehicles, stop engine, look under hood, mirrors under the frame, no cameras or firearms on base, etc. The last time I was there they spent 15-20 minutes inspecting a gasoline tanker truck at the gate.

Same heavy truck deal at Warner Robins in GA but the inspections go pretty fast. They don't seem to care if you just show up without an appointment. Since I have to stay overnight due to distance I usually take about 3 hours to walk the entire yard and look at all items before I leave. They are very friendly. My first time through I told them I did not know my way inside the base and that was a mistake as I waited an hour for an escort to arrive. Next times I told them I knew where I was going and they just let me through.

Lochbourne in OH needed an appointment and they were not even busy at all. I was the only one there for about 45 minutes.. Go figure..
