capister problem

I have a 86 m1009. On the fire wall passager side there is a capister running form the third positve terminal to the frist negitive terminal. It consist of three wires One wire goes straight through, THe second wire has a larger orange capister and the thrid has a smaller orange capister.

What is the function of this part? Do i need it? Where can i find one?
OR can i make one myself?

Noise (electrical and RF) supressor. Leave it be, it is reducing the ripple in the rectified DC output of the alternators.

Mine is broken the wire with no capister and the wire with the small capister are not connected. Should i put it back in and leave it alone, Or does it need to be replaced?

capacitor yes sorry stink at spelling. So this snubber capacitor has nothing to do with starting the truck? its pretty much just a noise filter

Yes. You could replace with equivalent sized (in microfarad) 50 volt or greater capacitors. Some electrolytics are polarized, be sure to install correctly.
