Center mount intercooler?

Looking for input, what to buy, etc for an above engine, under a hood scoop, air to air intercooler.

Unless I'm missing something, I think the main thing to buy for a charge air cooler mounted in that position would be a very potent fan.

Like a Subaru? I think space will be difficult with something like that. There's plenty of room up front and you'd have plenty of room to pipe it. I also don't think an IC is going to do much on these engines with little boost.

There might be more to the story, including lots of boost, that we don't know about.
If noting else, by definition an inter cooler goes between two power adders (such as a turbo, then an inter cooler, then a blower), which is where the "inter" comes from.
In a single power adder application, such as a turbo, it's merely a charge air cooler.

Most of up front space has oil, and trans coolers, and electric fans in it. I was avoiding putting the "inter boost charge air to air cooler" down low or out front to avoid road damage.
Anything I can do to lower eggs and up power is good. I have added a better ylturbo etc, as in my signature if you can see it. Eventually I might have injection pump enough to run boost in the 20's. If I put on the intake and put a big ol' honking, butt ugly hood scoop over it, it should fit.
My wondering is if there is a kit to do this.

You don't have anything in your signature. There is no kit that I've seen for that. I think you'd just have packaging issues up top. My old wrx had a ton of room up top due to the flat 4 engine. I don't see behind the grill to be a weak spot, many trucks and cars put it in that location.


i think I'd do meth injection over an IC

I've tried boost in the 20"s. 22 to be exact. Your head gaskets wont be thrilled with the idea. You will need to use 18 to 1 aftermarket pistons. I've had better luck with removing/reducing flow restrictions for adding power. Then you can increase the fuel rate while removing the heat out the exaust. With turbos, less backpressure is better. A intercooler may restrict airflow enough to cancel itself out.

Ken, you prefer pistons to thicker head gaskets? I've been toying with going the head gasket route on my 6.5.

Water pump, Hi CFM fan, 4 cored industrial radiator, Remote oil cooler, Dual alts, 4L80E transmission, Twin sticked NP205, 2 transmission coolers, 4010 u- joints, Water methanol injection, Rebuilt injection pump and hi pop injectors, Steering cooler in radiator, Detroit locker, Dual tanks, fuel pumps and filters, Oil, Trans, Water temp gauges, Pyro, Tach, Boost gauges, Oil press, Fuel press, Volt gauges, Trans press gauge.
