Cold start hand pump question

I always have over 80lbs on the gauge. And I can max it out real easy with the smallest movement of the pump. Pulled it all the way out once and couldn't push it back in for quite a while. Is their a valve or something I need to open. Didn't really look into this till the whether got cold. I did search and read tm but everything thing indicates the pump releasing pressure at some point which mine never does. I have a feeling I am about to feel stupid. Thanks all

You always have 80psi? even when not running, running? during cranking, or after start?

If you are indicating 80psi with the engine running you have a problem with the hand pump/system. it's probably dumping raw fuel into the intake. You need to fix this asap.

Thanks guys, it was a clogged nozzle. I did see that thread but my eyes were burning i had been reading so long, must have passed it over. Thanks again, system works great now. easy pump or two with the glow plug and she starts fine after a 30 deg night. Gauge also returns to 0 now.
