Converted M39 of some kind

Saw this at a construction site near my house. It apparently has been converted to some kind of construction vehicle.

Anyone seen one of these before?

I believe it's called a M139 Bridge Truck, and they are not street legal due to their being over-width. Farm and ranch use would be a good utilization of that model, though.

Im not sure what that box on the back was full of, but is looks to be designed to drive around spreading some kind of dry material from the hopper.

Must be a pain driving with your head out the window all the time rofl

Wonder how well it does in the fields with those tires on it?

Look likes a hopper truck to follow the combine when harvesting or something. Neat.

Seeing a truck that size gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Then the strong urge to run something over with it.

They drop a powder on the ground to take moisture out of ground prior to paving or concrete. The tractor beside the truck churns the mat. into the ground.

That makes a lot on sense, it is covered with a fine dusty material that is NOT the local dirt. They are also just about to start paving.

It probably drops either lime or flyash into the subgrade. It takes a lot of water to hydrate the lime and it becomes a very slimy mess. Hence the need for the monster tires, It does look pretty cool.
