Coolant Temerature Gage Sensor Replacement

Has anyone ever done this? I am looking at the procedure in the 20 manual. Material parts require Sealing Compound. The procedure tells you to use an antiseize compound on the threads of the replacement sensor. Need some help on what I should use sealing compound or antiseize? Also it says no where in the procedure to drain any coolant. Is this correct? if not, how much do I need to drain?

Drain the coolant. Fitting should be brass. Use light thread sealer or the sensor won't ground itself and you will have an inop or jump gauge

The anti seize they are talking about is tfe thread paste, if you use tape you risk not grounding the sensor. uncle sam some times has misleading nomenclatures.

I replaced mine recently. I drained one 5 gallon bucket of coolant and it was plenty. I used Permatex High Temp Thread Sealant, and it worked great (awesome stuff).

A quick note about the connector. It didn't seem like it at first, but the rubber boot on the connector is actually two pieces. The outer boot is held to the back of the sensor stud with a nut. The inner boot is attached to the wire. So hold the outer boot, and twist and pull the inner boot (without putting too much stress on the wire) in order to get it apart. When you reinstall it, put a little dielectric grease in between the two boots, to make them easier to get apart in the future.
