I was reading an old April 2003 article from MV magazien about CARC paint. They said that when painted correctly that the engines were also painted in CARC. The article was talking about all military vehicles in general. Did the military ever paint the CUCV engines any color besides black?

green...

mines definitely green.block, heads, water pump and all.the only black things are the air cleaner, and the battery trays.this leads me to believe that my 6.2 is the stock item.but i can't say for sure.

I guess that explains why the one I am buying has a rebuilt Gov engine with black valve covers and such. So I will need to get some green CARC. 8)

Thanks

I THINK...but do not know...that the stock military 6.2 motors came in black. I have only seen one motor that was green...it belongs to my brother-in-law...and it was a gov't rebuilt from Toelle. So, based upon my very small sample size (seven M1009s and one M1008 that I've personally owned and one M1009 that my brother-in-law owns), I think that the green motors were rebuilds. However, I see that someone just posted that he is buying a truck with a rebuilt motor that is black so, perhaps, there is no hard and fast rule.
