I have tried the search and not found what I am looking for. Has anyone on here switched from the regular "truck" bead to a flatbed arrangement for their M1008/1028? I am looking at doing this to better serve the purposes of what I bought the truck for, plus with a 4" lift and 37" tires a "truck" bed is basically useless!!!

Following site rules I cannot post the link, but if you do a search on eBay for "CUCV" you will see an example of a M1028 with a flatbed goose neck setup. I think there have been some posted here on the site as well, but do not know where or the topics.

I've been building up a flatbed body for my M1028 for a few months now and have been debating when to start a thread about it since I am not quite done with all the bells n whistles yet but I am very close. I've been driving around with it for a while now and can't imagine going back to the contact maintainance body that was on it before. My main reason for building it was so that I could see to back the thing up and so I could haul alot more things. When I'm done with it hopefully in a couple weeks I will start a thread about it. In the mean time I will put up a couple pics of what I have so far.

Jimmy, I like the wrecker push bumper, nice touch.
Thanks. I got that thing from a friend of mine about a year n a half ago for either $100 or $150 I cant remember which. They had an old 1980's chevy tow truck at his garage that didn't run anymore so they parted it out. I was able to get the bumper for that price since there isn't really a big demand for those anymore. Reckon it's due to new cars having airbags and plastic bumpers. Somebody on this site a while back asked me about the bumper and someone elese posted a link to a site that still sells these bumpers for old chevys and fords but if I can recall the price for a new one was outrageous or at least seemed like alot.
