Yes, I know.. Everyone has been asking for this stuff lately. I'm trying to find any history of my Blazers. I have 2. Tell me what you guys can. The first one is as follows:

1985 CUCV Blazer
VIN 1G8ED18J3FF147765
It was surplused to the Commonwealth of PA somewhere around 02-1999. I show miles as 073754. It was 'refurbished' by Prison Industries, and used as a perimeter control vehicle at SCI-Albion, Commonwealth of PA. I took ownership in 12-2007. I do not have the reg. # in front of me, but I can get it in a day or so if it is imperative. (At a friend's warm garage now!) No bumper numbers available. Would be interested in knowing how this was originally numbered.

Second One:
1986 CUCV Blazer
VIN 1G8ED18J9GF175992
Surplused into Commonwealth of PA Law Enforcement Property Program 10-1999. Miles as shown then: 045965.
Used by Warren County Sherriff's Office for counter drug operations on Allegheny National Forest by WCSO. Had the !@#$ beat out of it then. Sold at 160K miles, AKA when the floorboards gave out. Presently stationed in my yard with a flat 31" tire.
Reg. No: NFOKE6

Bumper numbers are there but impossible to read.

Anything you guys can help me with would be cool. I appreciate your time and effort in advance. I'm new to posting here, but I have been lurking for a long while.
I'm here now, and I plan on staying!

Out of curiousity, would it be possible to determine the history through the VIN on a former USAF vehicle? Sort of a cousin to the CUCV I suppose, a 1985 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 6.2. Has several special order RPO codes (for paint, delivery) and a VIN character I can't decode (3rd char = 8 ) but seems to be more or less standard civilian issue otherwise.

I may be able to get some data from the stickers still on the dash but any external markings are gone. I picked it up a few weeks ago from a town highway department who got it surplus and was curious where it had been assigned, as it has very little rust outside the left front rocker and outer floorboard. Given some of the extra holes and things, plus a decal on the dash regarding runway control light indications, I suspect it was a radio truck on an airbase. Once it gets a trans swap and some other work, it's going to be a driver and general work truck.

Thanks in advance -

OK, something different here folks, it says this truck was stationed in HONSHU, JAPAN but I with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 17th Legal Affairs Battalion (Augmentation). However, I do not think the vehicle actually went to Japan. My belief is the fact there was an (Augmentation) behind the name leads me to believe the unit was part regular army, part reserves and this vehicle belonged to the stateside augmentation part of the unit.

Nomenclature:TRUCK UTILITY 3/4TON Model:M1009 NSN:2320011232665
Serial Number:J8FF135997 Registration Number:NF0A2Y Year of Mfg:1984
Manufacturer:93219 Contract Number:DAAE07-82-C-4060
Report Type:LOSS Usage Miles: 18824

This vehicle was later transferred to another unit with the unit number of 9 but I haven't yet determined what the unit was. I suspect it is the 9th Legal Support Unit which I think was located in NY. That would go a long way in explaining how it got to CT.

Hope that helps

See now I am a little curious. I bought my M1009 at a DRMO auction in Kaiserslautern Germany the end of 99. I picked it up at Manheim. To my understanding it was in WRM storage most of it's life. It was really clean not a scratch on the windows at all, not even wiper marks. I am sure my M1028 with the contact truck body was out of New York.
1986 M1009
VIN 1G8ED18J8GF121745
REG NF0G3N

1984 M1028
VIN 1GCHD34J5EF355889
REG NG17KQ

Just curious and thanks.

hey medlog, would you mind looking up the info for my m1009 with vin 1G8ED18J6FF104683 when you get a second?

It has some stickers on the inside that have audobon speed limits and someone painted over my markings so i'm curious to see what that's about.

Thanks

ASTFU,

Guess it did go across the big pond. The unit 9 may also be the 9th Theater Support (now Sustainment) Command. I think they use to be located in Ft Belvoir VA. The truck may have been stationed in Japan long term or it could have been shipped there just for an exercise or both. I just can't get much information on the history of these two units.

Johnfire,

PM me with your first vehicle sometime tonight I have to do some more research on that one and I don't want to loose track of it. As some of the folks are hearing around here, I have a gotten a bad case of C.R.S. since the heart attack a few months ago. So bottom line is pm me about your first vehicle.

As for the second vehicle, this what I found:
Organization: PROPERTY CONTROL, STOCK RECORD ACCOUNT
Location: FT HOOD, TEXAS

Nomenclature:TRUCK CARGO 1-1/4T Model:M1028 NSN:2320011275077
Serial Number:J5EF355889 Registration Number:NG17KQ Year of Mfg:1984
Manufacturer:93219 Contract Number:DAAE07-82-C-4060
Usage Miles: 18057 (at time of transfer)

It was transferred from the above to the 313 Signal Company (Range Extension), a regular army unit also located at Ft Hood. It appears this transfer occurred sometime around 1989. After that, nobody kept any record---Thank You Private Snuffy.

Again pm me about the first vehicle.
