I'm getting ready to install my curt hitch 14082 does it matter if the hitch is recessed a little bit?

Not as long as your drop tube fits. Mine is recessed a little on my 1028 as well - works and tows my M101a2 fine.

Ok thank you! I have it clamped up right now and test fit some hitches I had. They all seemed ok.

No worries. You also know that your spare probably will not fit under the bed anymore ? I run 37' military radials and my spare is in the bed. Stock tire MIGHT fit.

yeah I'm not worried about my spare. what lift are you running, did you do any trimming?

I run a ORD shackle flip 4" lift with Tuff Country springs up front. All parts from ORD. Also use their brake lines , steering box frame reinforcement kit, quick dis-connect sway bar, bushing kit front and rear, all from them.You will like that Curt hitch- very beefy and well made.I trimmed the side brackets after installation because they protruded a little low for my taste. I know they say do not weld on their product , but I had to cut it to fit around the shackle flip. Came out nice though.
