Welcome aboard. Don't take my initial response as anything other than an attempt to keep you and everyone on the road safe.

Have mines? Do any blasting? Imagine a 15 year old wanting to play with some blasting materials.

I like the 928 with the newer Cummins myself.

Hi Chris,

Search the 5 ton forum for "motherload" There is a brand new 9/2012 release of all the 5 part repair, 3 part "parts", lubrication tm's available for download that are not posted here including the latest -10 operator's manual. it is much better than the old one. PM me if you don't find it. I personally prefer to print and read but I am probably giving away my age....

You definitely want a paper-10 to take with you and read before hand.

Read the 5 ton forum as much as you can to gain insight and most questions will be answered there.

Welcome and have fun with your new trucks!

Ask and many will be glad to help. We all start somewhere, gain knowledge, and give back :)

Total congrats on the purchase, read the TM's. I highly recommend to you to have them hauled to your farm. If you are not familiar with operating these trucks, the open highway is a PI$$ poor place to learn. The money you would spend to have them safely delivered to your LZ would cost would be far less than the cost of damages to you and perhaps others out in the wilds of the open road. We must not forget a deceased member from this forum that met his fate in a MV due to events beyond his control and I believe he knew what he was doing as well.
I had a learning curve with my A3 and expect the same with my new 5 ton tractor when it get to the farm. I have a CDL and ran a Freightliner over the road for a couple of years but I worked for a company that had a shop to inspect the loaded rig over the pit before I or any of the other drivers took the loads out every day.
When you are familiar with these rigs, take them out and have fun with them and be safe!

Some reading for you.

Uncle Sam made the top 3 videos on the 5 ton so here you go!

Some one posted the thread where these videos were featured but I can't find it.

Have fun and be safe!

All we are attempting to do is keep people alive. Be it you or a member of the public. A couple of years ago we had one of our very knowledable members die during a recovery. His truck flipped during an accident.
For the Newbies that might be wondering what the big deal is, take a few minutes and read these two threads.

And also there where two teenagers that where killed in a Deuce accident last fall.
