Deuce Front Diff Actuator

After shoveling 18" of snow off the driveway, I thought I would like to do something a little more constructive. My front differential actuator has leaked air since I bought the truck from GL 2 years ago. It only leaked when the actuator was in the "in" position, calling for the transfer case to engage the front end. I realized real quick the actuator was leaking from within itself, and I didn't have any leakage from the attached air lines. I disconnected the actuator and brought it into the shop where it was a few degrees warmer. I marked the lever on the top side so I wouldn't put it back together wrong. I then took a 5/32 pin punch and punched the roll-pin out, this allows the lever to be removed. With a small screwdriver I removed a nylon plunger with a spring and an O ring that had seen better days. I replaced the O ring, using a little lube, reassembled, installed it back in the truck, tested, and was good to go! No more leaks! I probably could have tossed it away and bought another one, but now I know what makes it tick, and how to repair it.

Thanks HS, Sorry I don't know what size the O ring is, I just found one in my O ring stash that was the same diameter. The original was round, I put a square one in, seems to work. I saved what was left of the old one, I'll show the counterguys at NAPA next time I'm in town.
