Don't know if this helps or not, but my generator stopped working a while back also. I took the rear cap off and found this resistor that had exploded. Purchased a new one and replaced it, but haven't tested it since I put it all back together. I swapped out my generator for one of Wolverine Technologies single wire 24 volt alternators. Works great.
