I just replaced the pump in my '96 and for the price there isn't an electric pump out there even close. It is a bit of an SOB to change though. I pulled the right splash panel to get better access to it but it can be done from beneath the truck. The only tricky part is getting the pump actuator pin up into the block so that you can slip in the pump actuator arm. A good blob of thick grease will do the trick. BTW, there's no need to buy a "HMMWV pump". They're commonly used on 6.2s and 6.5's, just look for one with the vent tube. Shouldn't cost more than about $30.
