The number one thing in starting your multifuel in the cold are fully charged batteries. The engine doesn't have any glow plugs, but uses an intake manifold heating device to help warm things up (the flame heater).
The batteries alone should get you going down to about 10F. A multigrade oil will help too (=easier cranking).
The flame heater consists of a separate fuel pump, which pushes diesel fuel through a nozzle in the intake manifold adapter. A ignitor unit keeps a spark going, which ignites the atomized fuel, which in turn heats up the air.
You must crank the engine when this is used and don't use ether when the flame heater is turned on.
