Im about to change the engine oil in my 1009 for the first time. I have no clue what it has been running in previously. Is there something that is always good to use or might i destroy my engine by using the wrong type of oil?

I always run Rotella 15W 40 in my M1008.

Oil

  • Oil is 15W40 for diesel. (HD 30W works very well in hot ares) Rotella is available in gallon jugs, and quarts at just about any convenience store or truck stop. Engine capacity is 7 quarts.
  • Oil filter is FRAM# PH5; NAPA# FIL1092; ACDELCO# PF1218CL; K&N# HP-3002
  • Oil and filter change recommended every 3 months/3,000 miles

Walmart near me sells Rotella in 2.5 gallon jug for $27.00. Or $12 for 1 gallon(They ever open that one in Sundvall’s Östra Birsta shopping area?). It's what I run in all my diesels.
