Engine replacement

I have a m814 that I'm going to be using to pull my camper around and travel. I'm completely rebuilding everything on the truck. I wanted to ditch the old 14 liter and get something else. What would you guys recommend for power and Reliability. Also if I traveled around would my truck be outlawed in some places making it impossible to drive through or would the laws go based off my home state. Thanks!

Big cam 2 or 3 would fit the bill nicely, hold up excellent vs the NHC 250
