Fast gears. Planetary regearing?

They can be welded to change them from 2:1 to 1:1. BUT then your gearing for highway use will all be out of wack. You would have to use Off Highway mode to leave a stop cause you would need that granny gear to get rolling. But then you would be locked into full 4wd on hard ground..... not good for transfer case... Wish there was someway to go into Granny 1st without locking into full 4wd.

Another consideration is it is rumored that the differential gears are not huge on these trucks because some of the torture of a normal drive system is placed in BOTH the gear reduction hubs and in the differential. If it was just in the differential as is in most trucks of this size then they would have to have much beefier differential gears. So with that in mind welding the hubs, hands all the torture to the diff. gears and may cause much undue wear/breakage.
