Hello all,

I have the oportunity to bid tomorow on a 1993 m35a2c truck on an auction site.(one on right) I went to look at the truck (a retired fire fighter truck) and saw the fdc is Removed (bypassed also). The part is missing from the IP.
Could it be as ‘simple’ as cutting a piece of metal to cover the ‘hole’ and call it good. Or should I get a replacement fdc and install it. (Eventhough it is bypassed). I went through manual, but do not understand (yet) whether the components inside the fdc still have a function after a bypass.
I am aware of a lot of other issues I might encounter. I have revived three none running m35a2’s in the past, but first time I have this part missing.
Thanks in advance for your insight!

You will see that post #7 addresses it. Your idea seems to be workable. Further down are even some pictures.

Congratulations. I thought production ended in 1988. Your truck probably isn’t a 1997.

If it is a 1987 then it could have the dual circuit brakes if it was an Air Force truck. Looks like a fun project.

Pickup went as good as could be expected. I towed it with another deuce to about half way home when in a sharp corner front tires went in other direction causing right front tire to come of rim and shred. At that point my wife who was steering had enough from the Florida heat, so tow truck option was taken iso side of the road tire change.
All paperwork says it’s a 1997.
Still need to make sense of the numbers to find out. Stock number may indicate it’s a 1977 if I understand what I read going through some posts here. ( It definitally looks faded enough)

Nice score if the price was right! And a recovery needs drama - not too much, just enough, otherwise, what's there to talk about? Any Joe can simply tow a truck home!
