Flywheel reversed thread?

im trying to take my flexplate off with a wrench and it wont budge a friend told me they could be reversed thread so i just want to make sure

you need to hold the fly wheel either on the bolt on the harmonic balancer or with a big flat blade screw driver on the fly wheel teeth. if you dont you cant get the fly wheel off.

I use a long wrench and a hammer. Apply some pressure to the wrench, then smack it with a hammer. Next best thing to an impact, especially if you are not removing the transmission/transfer case from the truck. I just use long bolts to keep the alignment between bell and block, and roll the trans back on a floor jack. Makes assembly a whole lot easier. Glen

Old ckunk of flywheel welded to that nipple. It engages the flexplate and bolts to the block. Don't make it too short or it will spin out.
