Hi all,

Do they make a fording kit for the M1009?
And if so...
Who does? (company name, number, website...)

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,

CJ

You'll have to get creative and make your own, most of them are made out of PVC tubing you can buy at your home improvement store, and it'll involve cuttong a decent sized hole in your fender, and use of silicone..look on www.fourwheelin&offroad.com and www.fourwheeler.com pages for some old stories, also www.pirate4x4.com might be a good help if ya search first, but fyi most people dont use "snorkels" on that site...good luck [thumbzup] another source might be www.alaska4x4network.com

Thats why you'd post in the newbie section first, and use the search button alot !! if ya ask intelligently most of them won't flame ya!!rofl besides mashing it, if he's in deep enough water he runs the chance of hydro locking the engine, no good... if he seriously wants one he'll have to get creative and make his own unfortunately, since our rigs are 20+ years old now, there isn't a huge market for them as years ago. just tryin to help is all...

These are mechanical rubber type diaphragm pumps. Notice the pump on right is standard 6.2 mech pump with holes for diaphragm. One on left for M998 has connection for hose to inhale exhale for diaphragm keeping it above water line, You'll need Jesus to run if it pulls if you have a leaking diaphragm with water around. Also get rid of that junk tombstone firewall filter and get the Racor 445 or something similar has a better fuel heater and water separation capabilities with provision for water detection. Pricey watch ebay. They have with or without hand prime. Email I will help you out if need be.

By the way driven mine with water to the bottom of my seat. Keep it out of intake or your done. This ain't a boat so fording is not good but deep water is mid to the doors is possible done it during Harvey.

Don't forget axle, transfer case, power steering and transmission vents. Without an air compressor system, forget any deeper than the alternators. Deep water forcing operations isn't trivial, the entire system must be designed. The fan clutch helps, it will freewheel when wet and cool, preventing fan damage. Remember the crankcase depression regulator keeps the crankcase pressure negative by just a few inches of water, it could draw water in if the seal cools from water.

Axle level is the only sane level. Still you must check lubricants after exposure. There is a reason for it, combat. It is far too risky for overland expeditions and it only changes you from a rescuer to a victim in natural disasters.

Don't know if this will help, but here's a snorkel setup on a suburban, which is about the same. Might require some adjustments for your application.

And, of course, you'll need to address all of the other systems mentioned previously.

Forgot one item change the fuel pump to the one that's on the h1 it has the connection for the diaphragm where it can intake and exhaust air from above a water line the standard pump has two holes in the side for the diaphragm to be able to operate
