gear lube in hub

anyone ever hear of a M211 using gear lube in the hubs instead of grease?

I know a guy who is doing that.

thoughts?

i found out he said that gear lube was in it when he got it.
I would think that is just because of a bad axle seal and it came from a pig.

Hmmm...no real problem as long as you keep truck rolling (=not parked 90% of the time). If it sits for long periods of time, the oil will run off the bearings and invite rust....
