Gear ratio change?

Don't laugh...

I really enjoy my M38A1. My one complaint us in its stock form, I'm really limited to where I can take it.

Most notably, I can't take it to some nearby events because I do no want to flog it it at its top speed for extended periods on hi ways.
So, avoiding some barbaric engine swap...how do I make it more drivable?

I don't plan on taking it off road or doing a remake of The Rat Patrol.

I considered an overdrive but don't want to cut a hole in the floor.
So how about gear change?
Or, just don't worry, the engine is fresh as is the cooling system, it can take an occasional few hours of hi-revving.

Any suggestions welcome.

It'll take it, I went out a month-ish ago and drove for an hour and a half straight, albeit at varying speeds, but was on the highway a good portion of the time. There's no reason you can't do a 50 mph drive for an extended amount of time. Yes, It'll howl being geared so high, but it wouldn't be made that way if it wasn't capable.

You could gear change it, I don't know anymore if it'd be cheaper than an OD conversion. Haven't priced gear sets for awhile, and having to do both axles won't make it cheap.
