I have read some of the replies that question rebuilding when buying another is economically more feasible. I tend to agree.
How about not rebuilding or buying but combining parts on hand to make one.
I have a 3053A missing the input shaft. I also have a 3152 with a loose second gear and bad shift fork.
I have taken all 4th and fifth gear parts out of the 3053A and replaced them with 4th and fifth from the 3152. The as yet untested result is the same gear ratios found in the 3052.
I'm sure there are some of you that know a lot more about the gears than I do. I'm looking for opinions. Will it fly or just crash & burn?
Not putting it in a Deuce, just a 1-ton GM.
I used the 3152 bearing retainer to fit GM truck. I will be adding a 1350 end yoke and the total installed length will be only 3 inches longer than the old SM465.
