I was driving my 5Ton (M813) this weekend and had some problems with it. As I was driving it felt as if was slipping a gear and the entire truck would shake for a second. It felt as it if was coming from the rear of the truck. I check at the differential fluid levels and was was a bit low but not bad. Has anyone had a problem similiar to this. I asked some other friend and they suggested either the clutch slipping or maybe the gears in one of the pumpkins were going bad. HELP.

Sounds like a clutch to me. I may need to put one in my M818 before too long.

gears don't slip. clutch's slip, then burn, then your walking. have fun swapping that out. what a pain.

I once bought an M543A2 that had a really worn clutch. You could let the clutch out without the truck moving. It only started to move once you revved the motor. I drove that truck back home from an auction in DE. It was scary on hills as the truck would lose power when the clutch slipped. I feathered the pedal and was able to make it back.

Is there any oil coming out of the bell housing drain? If the rear main seal is leaking it can cause the same symptoms.
