Getting creative with Deuce front pintle hitch

Used the front pintle hitch on the Deuce today to make loading my old non-dropside bed onto Charles' (bede63) low bed trailer a lot easier. We jacked up the tongue of his trailer and dropped it onto the pintle. Pintle wouldn't close all the way so we chained it down. It's a CUCV pintle hitch, not one with a ball for the lower part, but it gave me an idea for an upgrade:idea:. His hitch ball socket is a 2 5/16" Put blocking under the back of the trailer to keep the front from wanting to pop up from the bed weight. Then we just hooked the winch cable to a chain bridle and hauled her on. Worked great.

Nice job.
Is your pintle a box reciever mounted hitch?
Makes it a smooth surface when not in use.

Next time try a modern eqyptian pyramid building trick and use a couple 5 foot lengths of 1-1/4 schedule 40 (thick wall) pvc tubing as rollers.
The wall thickness to diameter is pretty strong, and if you need more support as more sections of PVC.
It make it move as though it was on a bed of marbles.

quarkz,
My pintle is just a CUCV pintle and backer plate bolted to the front bumper. Mostly for light duty work. Moving trailers, light pulling etc. We had to use 6x6 blocks to slide the trailer on to get enough height so the underside of the bed would clear the trailer fenders.
