Hd np208?

I just read on wikipedia that the CUCV came with a heavy duty version of the NP208. Is that true, and if so, what makes it a "heavy duty" version? I haven't found anything here that makes that claim...

not really.... I have seen some silly **** on the wiki site. Its the same old NP208 found in Civy trucks.

well it is because some meatball wants to sell something for mor than it is worth so he said heavy duty because it is "army" thats why

It was plausible to me because so many people differ on their view of the 208 - some say it has held up to everything they have thrown at it where as some others say it is junk. I think I am going to risk using mine just for the lower gear and the fact I don't have to spend a bunch of money swapping parts!

i believe the only difference is the civy is 28spline while the military version is 32... i think

That is just because of the TH400 tranny vs the 700R4 in civvy versions.

I edited it, it doesn't say heavy duty anymore, unless some dummy changes it back.

I have never broken a 208.. snapped a trans in half with a 205 on the end. There tough, light, what else do you want?
