looks like a sprag case to me. If the truck's 4wd works I would imagine it involved welding the sprags( there are two, one for forward and one for reverse) roughly 2:1 low range.

Thanks! The 4x4 works all 4 tires rotate. The sprag is not welded me and my cousin pulled it out of the 6x6 just don't remember what it was. Trying to rule out some stuff with the truck looking like the 60's might be it and motor not quite tunned completely.

BFR is right, its a sprag case. T-136-21. If the 4x4 works going forward, it won't in reverse unless someone has been welding on it. The front drive ratio is slightly lower and when the rear spins, the over running clutch locks up. it spring loads to this position. Backing would require that shaft above the front driveshaft to be pushed in to switch the sprags.

Ok so thanks so much guys dose that mean the shaft above the frt driveshaft is for forward & reverse not sure i like that. I know it went in reverse real good out at my buddy and mines pit hole was deep enough by the end of the night we high centered the front end alls good though thanks again.
