just picked up this 1964 m54a2 in goldsby ok, from the forestry service. truck was never farmed out to a fire department! which is good for me plus the truck had a full arsenal overhaul in 1989!!!! im stoked drove back the full 165 miles home and never missed a beat, im not familiar with the bumper markings though? what do they mean, and what was the m54's purpose during Vietnam? m54a2.jpgmarkings.jpgmarkings 1.jpgm54a2 1.jpg

Congrats on a great truck, a multifuel truck going through depot overhaul that late in time is a rarity. Looks to have CARC paint job. In Viet Nam, the M54/A0/A1/A2 carried everything imaginable used by the troops, from ammo to rations. Some were equipped as "gun trucks" which provided convoy protection when heading through "injun country". The truck was not likely in the 34ID during that time period, as when they were sent for depot rebuild, they were issued to units without regard to where they came from.
