Help Troubleshooting my 1988 HMMWV and questions.

Hi fellow Steel Soldiers!

Well, I finally started working on the three HMMWVs I picked it up this past December from the GP Yermo/Barstow. The HMMWVs I picked up are the following: 1986 M1038, 1987 M998 and a 1988 M998 all in tan and use to be assigned to Operations Group of the National Training Center. I planned to keep the 1988 one and preparing to turn it in to a Woodland Camo M996 2-Litter Ambulance with supplemental armored doors. I chose the 1988 due to these factors:

1. Has a 6.5 engine that sounds and runs strong
2. Outside Body has one repair panel and no holes or gores.
3. Inside bed and foot wells are in great condition with no excess pick ax drain holes.
4. Has a 200 Amp alternator installed

Before I can paint it and prep the vehicle for the 2 Litter Ambulance conversion, I want to make sure my 1988 is internally good and any issues are resolved before then. So far, the my main issue is the wait light blinking.

1. The wait light blinks about 9 to 14 times before turning off. The truck starts up no problems though. Its wierd because on colder days, the wait light actually stayed on constant. Only thing different is the weather was colder. I have a Nartron Smart Start System PCB. What might be the issue and what should I do.

My other questions is regarding PCB and replacing them. Since I have a S3 PCB in my 1988 and if it is bad, can i replace it with another S3 PCB using the same same Glow Plug Controller that's currently in the vehicle?

I have numerous take off Nartron S3 Boxs without Glow plug controlers.

Is there a reliable and safe way to test a S3 PCB?

S3's are backwards compatible with previous TSU's, read the sticky at the top of the page...some good info.

Also, is there a way to safely test the PCB box?
