I have been emailing our SS member from Kharkov Ukraine (sirmax123) and helping him with his m1008 rebuild.
His english is a little better than my Russian so we have been doing Ok so far.
He has a bad t4oo (has cracked core) and he is going to purchase a new one from 'mad dog transmisions' on line. they offer 3 levels of the build which equal L1- upto 300 horses (basicly the stock build with some better than gm parts) L2- upto 600 horses and L3 upto 900 horse.
They were trying to sell him a L3 for a 6.2. He was not understanding the levels they were offering so I informed him of the levels and my recomendation of the L1, Maybe the L2 if he had some money to burn. but a 6.2 or even the hottest 6.5 would never need a tranny rated for 900 horses.

It appears they offer the torque converter with a choice of stall from 1600 to 2400. I do not know what to recomend here so I am reaching out on this one.

due to the cost of shipping $1000 each way. I recomend he buy a rebuild kit from the same people he buys the tranny from so that he can have some one local rebuild and he will have the correct parts. I dont think a warranty for a $1200 tranny is much good if you have to spend $2000 for them to fix it for free. I think he is doing good buy getting one from a reputable vendor however I am not sure this vendor is doing him any justice by recomending a 900 horse tranny for a 6.2 diesel. Just because it can handle more horses does not give it any reason that it will last longer.

This post is really in regard to the stall question. but I want all to know the entire situation with the tranny purchase because I do not want to give any bad advise.

Thank you for your Input.
