Hints on freeze plug replacement?

Looks like I have a blown freeze plug, the 1009 lost all it's coolant. Fortunately I got it stopped before any damage to the engine.

Any hints on prepwork prior to installing the new one?

Check the blown frost plug location and there may be a piece of the old one still in the hole if it rusted out versus popping out. I would use a adjustable plug type out of rubber that you can tighten with a wrench to make the repair, and you can wait until summer to put a standard plug back in.
