Well I just won the bid on my first MV. It's a M923A1 and I am dieing for the EUC to be completed.
I thought someone could answer this. There are many wrecked trucks on GL,
does anyone have any complete specks or prints on a military Hmmmv. I think with the frame, engine and trans, and all the steel, you could just about make one.
Any ideas?

A lot of guys took the "residue" of the M151 series jeeps and did just that. It is possible, and complete bodies are out there.

Two bug problems- nearly impossible to title and a lot of work for what you are getting. Oh, and take pictures along the way! :driver:

OR make a trip to Lansing MI and look over my inventory. Buy them complete with title and then do what you want to it. Way more fun and less money.

I am talking about the real military hmmvve. Like they are currently using with bullett resistant glass, and kevlar and so on. Not the H-1. even though that would be nice also.
Where and when could we come to Lansing to come see what you have. My wife and I love toys.

They are talking real ones not H1's. They are pretty easy to find.

H1's are a civilian offshoot of the M998 Military Hummer.
They went side by side down the same assembly line. The only difference is some insulation.
http://amgeneral.com/vehicles/hummer/compare.php

"The Humvee is the military vehicle. The HUMMER (H1) that used to be produced by AM General through June of 2006 was the civilian version based on the Humvee. It was much the same as a Humvee but "civilianized." Since it contained basically the same powertrain and other components found in the Humvee, the HUMMER remained in a category by itself. For further information, check out HUMMER and Humvee sections for detailed information about the vehicles. The current HUMMER H2, assembled by AM General, is designed to maintain much of the aggressive off-road nature of the original H1 but in a different package, which was designed by General Motors."

There are quite a few differences between the HMMWV and the H1, not just the "insulation". Go to Hummer and HMMWV / Humvee comparisons
for a lengthy description of the differences. As far as the H2 goes, it is just a pickup truck chassis with a HMMWV looking body. If you can't set a 5 gallon can on the floor and drive over top of it without hitting, its not a HMMWV. As previously mentioned, there are a lot of real ones available on the internet right now. I found mine there for 22,500 last fall and there are a lot more now. The first pic is how it looked last fall, the rest are now.

What the military has 24 volt and the civvie has 12. The military can ford more with a snorkel than the civvie? They have the same drivetrain and chassis.

The main difference is 12/24 volt, and the fact the H-1's don't have the waterproof electrical connectors. I have the same truck, run the same geared hubs, etc..

I was a Ted's he has great stuff. I chose the H-1 because i wanted air, a radio, and overdrive.

diverman555,
I sent you a pm yesterday...

Personally I would not sit in any hmmwv and have someone get an itchy trigger finger, think aluminum. I do have a couple of M1045 Slant Backs with supplemental armor installed and 5/8" glass.

PM me if you want to setup a time.

Thanks.

PS: I drove a M813A1 in Detroit with a manned 50cal (dummy) gun once on I75. Made some peds look scared! (it was for a movie and we had LEO escorts)
