HMMWV problems

So the questions are:
What's the deal with the flashing yellow wait light?
Is the engine toast?
Is the Transmission toast? Looking underneath, the linkage is connected.

Probably neither. Possibly the problem is in the glow plugs or the electronics in that system. Many threads on here on the control boxes and manually bypass. I would start with downloading and reading the tm"s ( technical manuals) here on SS. There are trouble shooting flow charts specifically for this problem before you throw parts at it, troubleshoot and check all components.

Popping in the intake is usually caused by a bent, burnt, out of adjustment intake valve, could have a loose rocker, bent push tube. See if you can verify the cylinder by use of an IR heat gun on the manifold at each cylinder. In the vid, it looks like it has a miss. Looks to be shaking at start up and sounds like it is missing.

Flashing GP light, a junk glow plug, wire shorted to ground to a glow plug, failed controller/timer.

Not going into gear, first, check fluid, won't go anywhere without it! What does the fluid look/smell like? Make sure the t-case is not in neutral. Verify by the linkage under the truck not just the lever in the cab. Make sure the trans linkage is connected and is moving. Does it look as if the trans has been out? Witness marks on the bolts from wrenches/sockets on the trans, and any other component that needs removal to get the trans out? If it has been out/worked on, maybe the flex plate isn't bolted up. That usually has it's own distinct sound of the converter pads hitting the flex plate. Even if it hasn't been out, flex plate bolts could still be not there. Don't these have a normal GM cover under the converter? Pull it off and look to see if the converter is turning.

Silly question, drive shafts are in it, correct.

It runs, has oil pressure. The engine isn't junk, just needs troubleshooting and repair.
