Hood lock?

I have searched this, and not found anything. The striker on my M1009 hood has a hole in it on the end. It seems like this would be a perfect place for a padlock (with a rubber coated housing). I can reach my hand thru the space in the grille where the blackout drive light is located and have easy access to the lock.
This may have been discussed before, I just didn't come across it. Forgive me if this has already been covered.

The way I am thinking of does not require a chain. That's the appeal to me. No rattling chain. Even the padlock will have a rubber coating. The ONLY rattlin' I will tolerate is the detroit.
