How to tell if drums are worn out?

If no matter what you do with the brake adjusters you can't get the gap down to .010 on the lower side of the shoes is it new drum time? I'm having this issue on one of my axles and I've replaced pretty much everything else.

There should be a min/max thickness of the drum rim or an overall ID of the shoe contact area to give you an idea of where you stand as far as acceptable wear is concerned. If the ID is past the stamped limit, replace the drum!

The specs are probably in a TM.

Sure enough,
b. Replace service brakedrum (2) if inside diameter is greater than 15.0 in. (38.1 cm).
Found that in the -34.

There is plenty of great info in that TM.
