sorry to mention that there is no vin, and it is a six digit serial # 002710
Did you even look at the thread? That's what he's telling you. Post the information in that thread and you'll get your answer. While it's not a true 17 digit VIN, the 6 digit serial number effectively becomes the VIN when you register it.

While states may refuse to title and the DLA could change the disposition code again, I sincerely doubt that any will ever be taken back. The government wants them gone as much as there is a demand for them. The disposition code wasn't changed just because someone in the government cared about the historical preservation of former military vehicles - it was because there was an incentive for the government to do so. To repossess them will be a mess that nobody wants to mess with concerning the logistics, likely lawsuits, etc.

Until there is evidence that something like this will happen, stop with the comments that stir the crap pot for what can be a touchy subject.

Not to be a broken record, the VIN or SN really means nothing on a HUMVEE. if it has been through reset or maybe even repainted you have no idea if that was the original SN.

Evidence, history has a tendency to repeat it self.

Nobody else on the site is required to post facts with proof. Nobody else on this site is restricted from posting their opinions(they may be refuted).

I should not be held to higher standards.

Fact is, titling and registrations are becoming a problem.

Fact is, other vehicles in the past have been restricted and or withheld (taken back) from the Gov.

Actually, as someone in a moderator/administrator position, you should be holding yourself to a higher standard.

Fact is, I don't disagree that registering and titling are problematic from state to state.

Fact is, while the disposition code could at some point be changed again, there is no indication that any discussion or decision has been made to take back HMMWV's from those who have bought them. Saying that "they're about to" implies that a decision has been made and only serves to stir the pot with no basis in "fact" as it applies to GP HMMWV's.

There are states that are recalling grey titles and revolking plates this is a fact.

Thank you for your input. Re-read what I wrote - I acknowledged that. I'm not exactly sure what a "grey" title is as it pertains to a Humvee. Those who need to get creative to get a title get what they get. There are others who followed the procedures though and their state reconsidered - there's nothing grey with the title, the state just revised or reinterpreted their laws and policies.

There are issues from state to state, but definitely not all states and certainly not to the point of making a blanket statement that the title will be revoked or your vehicle eventually being taken back by the government.

Definitely a dead horse though.....
