Intake and exhaust

I am contemplating putting a high flow conical filter where the stock filter housing is and either a high flow muffler or just a muffler delete on my hmmwv with a 6.2. If I do these and turn the fuel pump up about an 1/8 or 3/16 of a turn, should it see a noticeable increase or am I looking for problems?

It is currently daily driven but just around town and to work. I don't plan on ever fording any deep water. What do you guys think?

Do some looking around on these boards as this topic has come up many a times.
I feel the easier the motor can breathe in air and get rid of the exhaust the better it will run.
air in+ fuel + air out = power
If you add more fuel along with more air you should in theory make more power. Adding a bigger diameter / free flowing exhaust cant hurt either.

If you really want more power do a Cummins or Duramax swap !

I am never going to spend the cash on a engine swap on my M998 so my mindset is to make the 6.5L that's in the truck run as efficient as possible with things like a bigger radiator, coolant cross over kit, new intake and exhaust, and a 700R4 trans swap with 2wd/4wd transfer case !

I think you'd be giving up more than you'd get in return.

I don't think you'd see a noticeable improvement.
Even if you did manage to add power, things will start breaking....

JMHO. There are platforms on which it's reasonable to tinker. The 6.2 isn't one of them.

If you don’t plan on getting in the water you can open up the factory intake inside and replace your filter with a K&N or similar products. Don’t plan on major power increase but maybe a little better mileage. There is a YouTube video of a guy opening his intake up for better air flow. I think it’s called LSX Hummer intake mod. In the video he says factory air flow is only 350cfm which is horrible. The way he did it still keeps the factory look and function just more air flowing direct into the filter instead of having multiple obstacles to go around in the intake.
