I like the idea, right now it is fully adjustable to make a cut just about anywhere on a rim. When i get it out next time i might look into your idea, maby it would make setup faster
Since your rig is doing a good job then just continue to refine it if you see a need for small tweeks.
We use a trolley set-up for cutting large pipe (up to 8 foot in diameter for CalTrans). It would do for rim widening but it's also adjustable to the point of doing face cuts too.
Your powered set-up is better in that your cuts are cleaner since the surface travel rate is constant. Our pipe cutter is cranked or pushed around since we can't rotate the pipe once a part of it is in the ground. It's claim to fame is that it's portable.
