Anyone have suggestions as to what is causing large amount of oil to be blown out of the breather? Covered passenger side of M35A2 on a 200 mile highway trip. Engine has 7800 miles, refurbished by Army in 1991.

Do you have the rubber hose extension on it(extending it below the axle)?

Key search words for this are, slobber tube, road draft tube, crankcase vent.

Pull the valve covers and clean out all the buildup and gunk, also clean the ccv tower and hose out. If that doesn't do it then you have ring/ cylinder issues.

Doghead:
Existing 18" hose was replaced with 3', 1-1/4" hose to eliminate oil being splashed on the way back home from Gilbert. Oil will be analyzed to see if any fuel, etc. is in it, and go from there. Thanks for your reply.

Sinker of Jeeps -
Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I'll for sure pull valve cover and clean out all the gunk. What's the CCV Tower, however?

Ccv tower= crank case vent tower. Probably not the proper name for it but that's what I call it. The part that joins both of the valve covers together on top and routes the vapor from both into the slobber tube. There should also be shields inside the valve covers that keep oil from splashing into the tower one may have fallen off or become clogged causing excess crankcase pressure and forcing oil out of the more open vent. Happens on Jeep 4.0 engines a lot and forces oil into the breather box.
