I first changed out my lift pump due to start issues related to leaking filter base, it was probably still good. Put a Carter pump in, it failed after 5 years, leaked where the steel lower is crimped to the aluminum housing. The next one has failed after only 13 months. What a piece of ****. I'll never buy one of their products again. Picked up a AC Delco pump, hopefully its made better and lasts longer.

get rid of it altogether. Use an electric LP from a 1993 Chevy K2500 6.5TD. It was designed to work with a DB2 IP and works well. The mech LPs were not a great idea on these IMHO. I get rid of them right away.

Delco Lift pumps are the only way to go. I had a carter one for two years, they suck. I run mechanical pumps because I like the idea of the trucks being operational without any electrical. Plus, the mechanical pumps seem to die slowly and leak first, where the electric pumps sorta suddenly stop working.
